Yin Guangzhong

Yin Guangzhong, a native of Guiyang, was born in 1942. Technology and art are his passion since his childhood. He served in the army, worked in the factory and was school teacher, before he became a professional artist in Guiyang and a member of the famous star group in Beijing. In August 1979 he participated in a group exhibition of 5 young artists from Guiyang in Beijing. In 1981 he completed his series of clay works “100 gods of China” and showed them in a solo exhibition in Beijing. He has participated many exhibition in China and abroad. In 1986 he was rewarded with the international stage art prize in Prague. In 1985 he worked together with the Nobel Literature Prize laureate Gao Xingjian and the famous director Lin Zhaohua on the artistic stage decoration for the drama “savage”. At the same time Gao Xingjian and his clay works and painting were exhibited in the People’s Art Theatre. He worked together with the world famous film director Evans for his film. In 1989 he visited Germany while his works toured through Germany. His oil painting, clay works and lithographs are collected. Two of his inventions have been patented in China recently. In 2001 he left his position as Vice Chairman of Artist Association in Guiyang. Since 2002 he works as an independent artist.
